The last couple of weeks have had a couple of very surreal moments in them. In one sense things have been ticking along as normal with our regular sessions continuing to go well and things developing nicely.
On the other hand we’ve hand a couple of experiences that have taken us by surprise. One of which was receiving a phone call from a PR agency saying they’d like to run an article about us to go in the Birmingham Mail. This resulted in last Wednesday having a half page article about us and the work that we are doing. Here’s the link: http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/local-news/quinton-team-set-up-rise-7791529.
We then got chatting to one of our local Councillors who suggested we should get in touch with our MP. A few emails later and the next thing we knew we had Gisela Stuart (MP for Bartley Green, Edgbaston, Harborne & Quinton) coming to visit us and watch one of our sessions in action. She later tweeted us saying “great to join @RISEcs in #welshhousefarm today. Good to see community sport thriving. Thanks Steve and the team”
It’s amazing how encouraging it can be to have people show an interest in the work that you do. Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves as this journey unfolds, but ultimately we will stay rooted and stick to our goal of creating a sporting legacy in the community we serve. Let the journey continue….
